Few exhibitions are as closely connected to the history and development of Icelandic fisheries as Icefish. First held in 1984, the Icelandic Fisheries & Aquaculture Exhibition has grown from a national industry gathering into an international event for commercial fishing, aquaculture, seafood processing, and related technologies. The 15th edition will take place at Smárinn/Fífan in Kópavogur from 22 to 24 September 2026, bringing the industry together in a country where seafood remains central to business, innovation, and coastal communities.

Icefish 2026 extends well beyond the exhibition floor. Its programme includes conferences focused on aquaculture and the commercial potential of using more of every fish, alongside business matchmaking, product presentations, technical discussions, and the Icelandic Fisheries & Aquaculture Awards. There is a natural connection between Icefish and Sæplast. The exhibition began in 1984, the same year that Sæplast was founded in Dalvík in northern Iceland. Responding directly to the needs of the Icelandic seafood community, Sæplast developed insulated plastic containers that offered a stronger and more practical way to protect fish quality during handling. What began as an Icelandic solution to an Icelandic industry challenge has since developed into an international product range used across fishing, aquaculture, processing, storage, and distribution.
